What do we mean by Breath training?

Breathing is synonymous with life. If there is no breath there is no life. In fact breathing is so central to life that for thousands of years eastern cultures have been harnessing and controlling it in order to enhance our life force and improve mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing. Breath training simply means paying attention to your breath and breathing with intention. It’s the opposite of mindless breathing where we are unaware and breathing on auto pilot. It involves gentle, safe breathing exercises that you can do in just a few minutes, on your own any time of the day. It’s also referred to as conscious breathing, mindful breathing and in yoga there is a system of focused breathing techniques called pranayama. Breath training differs from more controlled forms of breathwork training like Holotropic, Soma and Alchemy breathwork which are more advanced techniques that involve controlled hyperventilation and should be done with a trained breathwork facilitator or guide.

In this comprehensive 12 page guide you will gain an understanding of the Autonomic Nervous System and its relationship with breathing and health, learn about the benefits of breathing optimally, discover how to use breath as a form of meditation and also be guided through a simple breath awareness exercise and a breathing exercise.
