Choices

We have a habit of giving away our power, preferring to make the choice to hand over responsibility to health care specialists.

But when chronic illness or even acute illness strikes, most often our body had been telling us to check in and take action many months and even years before. It was talking to us through those small signs and symptoms that we easily ignore and suppress. The small changes in our wellbeing such feeling more tired, getting more headaches, feeling more anxious or other mood swings, changes on our skin, digestive changes even changes in our hair and nails. These are all the first signs of imbalance. When left or ignored, they often progress to more serious health issues.

We want to help you to stay well, by teaching you how to create your own wellbeing plan of self care habits and screening checks.

Through our signature method, we teach you how to develop a wellbeing mindset, how to connect with your mind-body needs, how to create sustainable living and self-care habits and how to become the architect of your own health.

Our purpose here is to connect with other parents who have a desire to learn more about creating a family lifestyle that supports our mind, body and spirit, as well as the environment we live in.

Meet Vanessa

Thank you for sparing some of your valuable time to read my story.

I have been passionate about preventive wellbeing and clean living since I began my career in wellbeing 30 years ago. During that time I’ve worked in integrative and functional medical clinics and learnt from award winning Doctors and health practitioners in London, Sydney, Dubai and New York. But my biggest influence was becoming a mum and figuring out how to blend the ‘optimal living’ concept with the unpredictable nature of parenting.

6 in 10 adults in the USA have a chronic disease (CDC). So that equates to the deaths of more than 1.7 million Americans (CDC).

In the UK, the WHO projects that over the next 10 years in the United Kingdom, almost 5 million people will die from a chronic disease.

In Australia, chronic diseases are the leading cause of illness, disability and death in Australia, accounting for 90% of all deaths in 2011 (AIHW 2011b).

Chronic disease includes heart disease, obesity, cancer, diabetes and cancer and they are responsible for 7 out of 10 deaths in the U.S. They are defined as conditions that last more than 1 year and affect quality of life, mobility and require on going medication and care.

Chronic disease is the reason for the increase in morbidity. Whilst we have managed to increase our life expectancy and live longer, we have also increased our morbidity, which means we are living longer but living our last years with chronic disease and with poor quality of life.

But there is no need to feel hopeless! Most importantly and most empowering is the statistic that

more than 80% of these chronic diseases are preventable because they are mostly triggered by lifestyle choices.

These choices are known as risk factors and include but are not limited to : poor nutrition, smoking, excessive alcohol, inadequate exercise and lack of sleep. Research also shows that chronic stress is a root cause of chronic disease and impacts immunity, inflammation, mental health and even brain structure. There is also a large body of data that links environmental toxins to chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes, neurological diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, and cancer.

And all these lifestyle choices will also impact fertility. Because if the body is undergoing stress, is malnourished or there is chronic disease, the conditions and resources available to reproduce will be limited.

For these reasons, I set up Kähler Wellbeing as an education hub to promote the serious role we play in our future health and our children’s future health.

My goal is to teach a wellbeing mindset to parents, to help maintain health, prevent illness, or support any wellbeing treatment plan being followed. It's my wish for other parents to enjoy the same peace of mind that I have rested upon when it comes to caring for my family.

Becoming a parent often leaves us neglecting ourselves and pouring our time into supporting our family. But self-care is the foundation of having enough energy and patience to give the best care but also an investment into our healthy aging. Healthy aging isn’t about our external appearance, its about our internal function and mind-body wellbeing. It’s about maintaining flexibility to bend, fitness to run and play, clarity of mind to make decisions and being pain free etc. All these elements depend on the preventive model and making healthy choices now.

Join me on a journey of change and learn how to adapt, be happy, be your healthiest self and start making a change in this world.

My passion is for the children among us. That as their teachers, we have a responsibility to teach them the importance of daily lifestyle choices.  Right from the beginning.  So begin this wellbeing journey for yourself but also for the children in your life, be they your own children, a child that is in your life or even the children watching you in a cafe. They learn by our example, they look at what we choose and they copy our behaviour because they trust us.  Their health is in our hands. We need to give them the ultimate gift - the inspiration, knowledge and solutions to live a mindful, healthy, grateful and peace filled life.

BA (Hons), BSc (Hons), Dip ION
Nutrition therapist, certified health coach, mind-body coach.

When things get complicated, they become overwhelming and stressful. And yet over the years, we have chosen to ignore simple wellbeing solutions in favour of complicated ones. We have focused on deep diving into details and putting a microscope on our uniqueness and have made wellbeing hard to reach for the majority; either due to cost, time or how achievable the solutions are.  We have added to the stress pool despite knowing that “75% to 90% of human disease is related to stress and inflammation.” (2).

We have created a model that requires a costly 1:1 consultation. We have been focused on diving deep when looking up and out at the big picture, at the whole picture is where we need to start.

My approach is to teach the basics that apply to all of us and work towards consistent daily self-care routines.  Because before we are unique, we are mostly the same in fact, genetically we are 99.9% identical and therefore we share the same needs.

This is why I created a 2 level approach to regaining health which is based on my Good living philosophy.

By focusing on our similarities and our essential needs first, I can offer advice that is simple, affordable,  accessible to everyone and most importantly it can be shared from one person to another and amongst families and communities.  This is how we can make a global shift in the wellbeing model.  By making the information shareable

Our Good Living Philosophy

Our philosophy emphasizes the need to attend to all aspects of our lifestyle, beginning by cultivating a wellbeing mindset but also paying attention to the environment we surround ourselves in, the food and water we consume, the relationships we nurture and the lifestyle choices we make each day.

Your future health and your current health starts with you.

PAUSE often, connect with your mind-body-spirit and listen to their needs.

Before seeking complex solutions, check in with your ESSENTIAL NEEDS*. Are you attending to them?

Less is more, SIMPLE beats complex and the route to wellbeing comes by taking the route of least interference.

SUPPORT what the body is already expert at doing.

MEDITATE daily. Live with awareness, in this moment and be content with things as they are.

Practice non-judgement and ACCEPTANCE and show compassion to all life.

NOURISH yourself with whole foods, water and good relationships. Consume with thought and attention.

INSPIRE change with positive, kind action.

DREAM big and listen to your purpose.

Live a minimalist life with intention and Hygge :)
